Duration of Visit

You only really need one full day at Balloon Fiesta, but this is a once in a lifetime experience for many so I recommend staying at least a few days. This way, you’ll have extra time in case there are weather issues and the balloons don’t fly one morning, and you’ll also have time to explore Albuquerque’s other attractions. If you’re lucky, you’ll be able to witness multiple mass ascensions, enjoy various activities, and explore the city’s surroundings.

Ticket Costs and Online Booking

The ticket costs for the Balloon Fiesta vary based on the type of admission and the date of purchase. General admission tickets are usually available for single-day or multi-day access, allowing visitors to enjoy the festival’s festivities. Prices may range from $10 to $20 per day for adults, with discounted rates for children and seniors. There is typically a parking fee as well for each session. Prepare for another $20 fee each time you park.

Are Hot Air Balloons Safe?

Decades of data show that hot air balloons are actually one of the safest forms of air travel. According to the FAA’s Aviation Accident Database, hot air ballooning is the safest form of all air travel and is rarely involved in aviation crashes.

Weather Cancellations

Hot air balloon flights are highly weather-dependent. In the event of unfavorable weather conditions such as high winds or rain, the balloon rides may be canceled for safety reasons. While this can be disappointing, the safety of passengers is the top priority. You will get a full refund in case of cancellations. If your ride was supposed to be during mass ascension, it will be very difficult to reschedule since all the following rides will be fully booked.

You could easily eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner at the Fiesta because there are countless booths offering every type of cuisine imaginable. My personal favorite was the breakfast burrito from Rex’s. But if you’d like a sampling of Albuquerque original cuisine, you have countless options. Just make sure you chow down on some sopapillas and anything with green chillies!
